SUPPORT APPLIED RESEARCH FOR NEW ENGLAND FARMERS
Our vegetable and berry farmers are at the heart of the nation’s food supply, working tirelessly to bring fresh, healthy produce to our tables every day. Yet, they face mounting challenges—climate change, pests, diseases, and evolving market demands—that threaten their livelihoods and our access to nutritious food.
The New England Vegetable & Berry Growers Association is the oldest vegetable growers association in the United States and has been committed to the success of farmers by funding Extension Researchers in all six New England States through the annual Research Grant Program.
NEV&BGA has funded Extension research projects that directly benefit the growers of the region in the areas of:
- Variety trials
- Soil health
- Cover cropping
- Insect and disease controls
- Plant nutrition
- High tunnel growing and season extension
SUPPORT RESEARCH. STRENGTHEN NEW ENGLAND AGRICULTURE
Why Your Donation Matters
Every dollar you contribute helps fund crucial research projects that address the real problems vegetable and berry growers in New England face. From trialing resilient crop varieties to implementing farming practices to support soil health, your support directly impacts the well-being of farmers and the quality of food on our plates. The Extension is under increased pressure to do more with fewer staff and resources. The NEV&BGA research grants supply ‘seed money’ for researchers to conduct small projects or proof projects to apply for greater funding in other grant programs. All six New England state Land Grant Universities are eligible to apply for funding to address concerns of the vegetable & berry growers of the region.
